Traditional Hamburger VS Healthy Burger

The recipe that I chose was the Diner style Hamburger and Fries. I chose this recipe because between the two recipes provided, even though I am not a huge fan of pizza or hamburgers I chose the lesser of the two evils and I wanted to see if I can make a burger that I will enjoy again.

The modifications I chose to do was 1) the meat used for the modified recipe was grass fed 93% lean 7% fat and 2) I chose to do half of the seasoning on the fries and air fried them. I made these two changes because having a burger that is not loaded in fat personally makes me feel good eating something not just soaked in fat and this improves health because eating too much fat can raise one cholesterol levels and can lead to heart disease. Adding half of the spices on the fries reduces a lot of the sodium on them which eating too much sodium can increase blood pressure and it can lead to a risk of a stroke, heart failure, osteoporosis, etc. Air frying the fries adds a crispier texture to the fries and limits the oil saturated foods being consumed. Eating too much oil can lead to weight gain, obesity, heart disease, diabetes, etc.

Overall, the experience for this hamburger and fries was something I would have never done in a regular day to day basis but it made me explore my normal eating habits and made me venture out with spices and flavor. This also taught me how to cook more meals by myself besides the basic pasta and sauce meals or sandwiches I eat. Something I can improve on is my cooking skills because as pictured the burger from the modification was huge on the small bun and went everywhere. For someone that wants to make this at home, the best advice I can give them is experiment with food and spices and try things you never know. Sometimes trying something and seeing if you like it is better than just assuming you wont like something. Trying this burger made me like burgers a little bit better than I did before. You never know unless you try.
