Pepperoni, Pineapple, and Jalapeno Flatbread Pizza

Background:


Flatbread Pizza originated first in Naples in the 18th Century. First it was known as "poor people food", because only tomato was used as its topping due to the expensives toppings at the time. Then Flatbread pizza became so popular that it also started appearing in upper-class homes. In 1861, there were over 200 Pizzerias in Naples alone. Flatbread pizza first made its way to America when a guy named Filippo Milone opened America's first Pizzeria called Lombardis, in New York City.


Nutritional Characteristics:


Vitamins & Minerals:This meal contains pineapple, which is loaded with vitamins and minerals. Pineapple is high in vitamin C, which helps maintain healthy skin, bones, and teeth. Pineapple also cantains Manganese, which is a mineral that is essential to how your body metabolizes food, clots blood, and helps to keep your bone strong. In addition, this meal also contains Vitamin B6, Copper, Thiamin, Folate, and Iron. Pepperoni is a great source of B vitamins, which are important for a healthy metabolism and maintaining a healthy nervous system.

Antioxadants: Pineapples are rich in Flavonoids and phenolic acids. these are antioxandats that protect your cells against free radical can lead to chronic diseases.

Protein: This meal is high in protein. The Pepperoni is loaded witg proteins. Protein helps to maintain bone mass.


Other Positive Characteristics:


Doesn't take long to make: This meal can be done in less than 10 minutes. which is convinient time.

Only 6 Ingredients: This meal only contains six ingredients. which means it won't be too expensive to make, and the ingredients are easy to find.

Taste & looks good: besides being easy to make, this meal is also delicious, and looks great.


 


STEP-BY-STEP Instructions:


Leave the flatbread in the oven to cook for 2 minutes. After removing from the oven, spread with marinara sauce. Sprinkle with pepperoni, pineapple, and jalapenos. Then top with the mozarella cheese. Return to the oven to cook for 5-7 minutes until cheese is melted and flatbread is crispy.

Pepperoni, Pineapple, and Jalapeno Flatbread Pizza

Yield: 4 Servings

Serving size: 1/4 slice of Flatbread


Ingredients:

1 flatbread pizza crust

1/4 cup pineapples, chopped

1/4 cup marinara or pizza sauce

1/4 cup part skim mozzarella cheese

1/4 cup pepperoni

2 tbsp fresh jalapenos, diced



Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Place the Flatbread directly on the oven rack ad cook for 2 minutes.

  2. Remove from the oven. Spread with marinara sauce. Sprinkle with pepperoni, pineapplee, and jalapenos. Top with cheese

  3. Return to the oven and cook for 5-7 minutes until cheese is melted and flatbread is crispy.
